Self-Portrait was inspired by an oil painting from Lucian Freud, which I made after a photograph I took of myself for the purpose of the painting.

Both the photograph and the video are the result of a performance during which I painted on myself in order to resemble the oil painting.

This work addresses the erasure of borderlines between object and subject, static and dynamic, and the object and its representation across different media. My work seeks to offer an option for a new perception — away from Laplacian determinism and closer to human experience.
